Introduces Their Lightweight, Wireless X-Pad
October
15, 2001, City of Industry, CA
– Sceptre is offering a lightweight, portable
solution to taking your business out of the office
and with you virtually anywhere you go.
The X-Pad
is the latest product to emerge from Sceptre’s
award winning line of products.
“With Sceptre’s remarkable history of
manufacturing world class touch screen panels as
well as award winning notebooks, we saw it fit
that we came up with a product that will combine
the two and further increase productivity and
portability.” states Stephen Liu, President and
CEO of Sceptre Technologies.
The X-Pad eliminates the necessity to jot
down data and then transfer them into desktops or
notebooks, giving you wireless capabilities for
catering to your needs in half the required time.
The unit also provides wireless wide-area
network (WWAN) connectivity capabilities for
mobile professionals.
Users
can input their data by tapping a stylus pen on an
on-screen keyboard or by using a handwriting
recognition program installed in the X-Pad.
Weighing only 2.4 pounds, the handheld PC
is powered by an Intel StrongARM 1110 processor,
displays a bright 800 X 600 resolution on an 11
inch TFT screen, supports up to 32 MB Flash Rom
and 256 MB of memory on board, and runs on a long
life 10 hour lithium ion battery.
This slim-designed unit also comes with
Windows CE Handheld PC Professional Edition® with
Winword software and an IE 4.0 package built in to
assist the user.
For desktop usage, a mini-docking cradle
consisting of 4 Universal Serial Bus ports is also
included. An
exciting feature built into the unit is that it
can display portrait and landscape modes by just a
touch of a hot key.
With a retail price of $1,499 and
backed by Sceptre’s personal commitment to
provide the best quality and service of their
products, this unit will surely be one of the
front runners in the portable PC market.
