  2. If your notebook does not play DVD movies:
Make sure you system came with a DVD drive. (IT IS NOT STANDARD.) It should be DVD under the CD ROM category under device manager.   If it does, make sure you have installed the Mediamatics DVD software that came with the notebook.

  3. If your resolution drops while playing DVD player:
Yes, this is normal, the Mediamatic Software was written to play the DVD’s at 800x600 resolution. The notebook standard resolution is 1024x768 therefore it drops the resolution while playing. It should return to normal if you close the DVD player.

  4. If you have blurry and chunky text and letters:
Make sure you are using 1024x768 resolution in your display settings. The LCD screen is designed for best results at that resolution, anything lower will distort text.

  6. If your system boots slower when PCMCIA cards inserted:
Every PCMCIA card requires initialization. However, Cardbus cards require longer initialization times. Any time you have a PCMCIA card in your system expect about a 20-80 seconds delay to boot depending on which card you have put in. (All notebooks are like this)

  7. If you have trouble with Intellimouse:
The Intellimouse does work with the 6500 notebook. However, the system will not recognize the wheel or wheel button because of the touchpad. They will be disabled in the mouse properties.

Under NeoMagic, check the LCD, CRT/Projector box & Set Dual-Display box. Click Ok & Ok again. Reboot the notebook. The display should be on the dual display now.

  9. If you want to print using the Infrared Port:
To be able to print to the Printer, make sure the printer has a Infrared port. This test was conducted on a LaserJet 6P Printer using Windows 98.

    1. Make sure the Infrared Port is enable in the CMOS setup (press F2 after Power On). Set the Infrared to Auto and FIR (or SIR if FIR does not work).
    2. Disable the Parallel Port for an easy setup because Windows 98 might not have enough resources to share with all the ports. After successfully installing the infrared port, you can enable the parallel port again.
    3. Save and exit CMOS setup.
    4.
Boot to Windows 98 and the Infrared Port will be install by the OS. Notebook will restart.
    5.
Upon booting up to Windows again, check the Device Manager (in Start, Control Panel, System).
    6.
Make sure the Infrared Communications Controller is enable. If it has a yellow exclamation point, double click the device and select Troubleshooter tab. You will be prompted to disable a device to make room for the Infrared port.
    7.
Next, if you can see a Red Circle Icon with a White Cross on the right side of the Task Bar (on bottom of Windows screen), the Infrared port is installed o.k.
    8.
Double click the Red Circle Icon & the Infrared Monitor window will appear.
    9.
Under the Options tab, click the Enable infrared communication box & click Apply. The Infrared port is turn on now.
    10. Place the back of the NB towards the printer Infrared Port. NB’s Infrared port is located at the back of the NB. If both the Infrared see each other, the light on the 2 Infrared port should blink & the NB should detect and install the printer drivers.
    11. The Infrared distance is limited to less than 10 ft.
    12.
For the Printer port, you can either select the Com X (Infrared Serial Port) or LPT X (Infrared Printing Port).
