1)  My icons and pictures are distorted, they seem stretched out!  What’s going on?

Please double check your resolution.  Make sure they are either 1280x720 at 60 hertz refresh rate or 1680x1050 at 60 hertz refresh rate.  To change resolution in MS Windows series, right click on your wallpaper with no icon selected.  Select the option PROPERTIES.  A window should pop up.  Select the tab SETTINGS.  In there should be a slide where you change the resolution or screen area.

2)  I can’t get the resolution 1680x1050 nor 1280x720!  What do I do?

Make sure your video card has the newest drivers available.  If you have the newest drivers already but you still cannot select the resolution, then your video card is not compatible with our monitor.  Please consider purchasing a new video card.

3)  I saw the DUAL PAGE picture on your website.  How do I get that?

That picture shows you that 2 windows can fit into the widescreen display properly.  To do this, right click on your task bar and select the option TILE WINDOWS VERTICALLY.                                      <Top Page>

4)  My monitor display "Out of Range Message" error message?

Basically that means your operations range for the monitor is outside of what it should be.  There are 3 situations you’ll need to consider.

1.      If you still have an image while the out of range message is displayed, please change your refresh rate down to 60 hertz.  To change your refresh rate in MS Windows series, right click on your wallpaper with no icon selected.  Select the option PROPERTIES.  A window should pop up.  Select the tab SETTINGS.  In there click on the ADVANCE button.  Click on the MONITOR tab.  In there select your refresh rate to 60 hertz and click on OK.

2.      If you don’t have an image and you have your old monitor please hook it back up and change the refresh rate down to 60 hertz.

3.      If you don’t have your old monitor, then you’ll need to restart windows in SAFE MODE (for win98, win2k) or in VGA MODE (for winXP) and change your refresh rate to 60 hertz.  To restart in those modes, keep pressing F8 key on your keyboard after you have rebooted.  A selection screen should appear.  Please choose according to your OS.  When your windows has finished booting up, right click on your wallpaper with no icon selected.  Select the option PROPERTIES.  A window should pop up.  Select the tab SETTINGS.  In there click on the ADVANCE button.  Click on the MONITOR tab.  In there select your refresh rate to 60 hertz and click on OK.

 5)  My monitor’s Sceptre LED logo keeps blinking when I turn off my computer. Is that normal?

Yes, that is normal.  The monitor is indicating that there is no signal provided to the monitor.  Please push the power button to turn it off completely if you’re not using the monitor.

6)  My monitor has no sound or very little sound.  What do I do?

Make sure your audio cable is connected from the computer to your monitor.  Also make sure your volume is turned up on your computer and your monitor.  To turn up the volume on your monitor, press the M button (5th button from the left) on your monitor.  A window should pop up, press the RIGHT TRIANGLE button (2nd button from the left) until you highlight the speaker icon (3rd icon from the left).  Press the + button (4th button from the left) to go into speaker function.  Press the + button (4th button from the left) to increase the volume.  Press M button (5th button from the left) on your monitor when you are done.  If you still do not have sound please connect a cd player or walkman or mp3 player to the speaker by plugging the audio cable from the monitor to your audio device’s headphone input.  If sound is coming out of the speakers you’ll need to double check the input on your computer or see if anything is wrong with your computer’s sound card.  If sound is not playing double check your audio device’s volume and your monitor’s volume.  If all else fails, please contact technical support at monitor-ts@sceptre.com.

7)   My monitor is suppose to be able to play video regular or in HD 1080i/1080p how do I get it to do that?

Please purchase a DVI to Component converter cable from us.  With the converter able you can connect your video playing device and play it accordingly.  To get sound using the monitor’s speakers make sure you have a RCA red/white to 3.5 mm mini-jack (headphone jack).  Hook the mini-jack end to the monitor and the RCA end to your video playing device and you’ll be able to hear audio.                                    <Top Page>

 8)  My HD receiver box has a DVI output port.  Can I connect it directly to the 20” widescreen without using the DVI to Component conversion cable?

You can try to do that but we cannot guarantee it would work due to the many different types of HD boxes in the market.  We recommend you to use the conversion cable for video playing.

 9)  There are two different connectors in the back to connect to my computer.  Do I need both to get my computer to work with the monitor?

No, you only need one or the other, not both.

 10)   I have 2 computers, one using VGA, the other using DVI.  Can I connect both computers to the monitor and switch off with a button?

Yes.  The monitor has an S button.  With both computers turned on you can switch off but pressing the button twice.
