Excellent Video, Sound OK
This is my third Sceptre. Like the other two, the video display is excellent, and the audio quality is merely adequate for human speech. The electronics are very sophisticated, so I set the audio to surround sound and sent the audio signal to an existing 5-1 audio system. I sent the audio signal to an external speaker system with my other two Scepters as well. Overall, the TV is a great value for the price. If it had better speakers, I would give it five stars.
Unreal for the money! Why spend more?
I think this TV outperforms my Vizio M Series... either that or I don’t know how to set up the picture on the 55” Vizio. Kinda funny but I bought a long wall unit entertainment center and my new Vizio 55” was too small to fit the opening. So after reading reviews of this tv I ordered this 65”. It fits perfectly, and I can’t imagine, at this point, spending more... I don’t think I’d be able to tell a difference in the picture between this one and a more expensive one. It seems to do reproduce the dark images and the dark parts of a broadcast better. Very pleased.
Quick set up. No bad surprises. Increadible price.
Nice size computer monitor. Paid $499.95. Ordered 8:30pm. FedEx was here 16 hours later when I wasn't home;and then FedEx came back at 4pm. Smart packaging; set "upright", remove plastic 'clips', slide bosx off leaving tv fully displayed. If you don't have separate sound, the TV's sound could be worse.
but the colors are brilliant. I never experience lag
Takes a minute to turn on, but the colors are brilliant. I never experience lag. I only use it for streaming on the Roku. This TV is amazing and you're monetarily foolish if you would pay over a thousand dollars for the same quality TV simply for a name-brand.

I have only had it a month but the picture is as good as my Vizio that is 5 inches bigger and cost 4x as much. I have not been able to get the RCA outs to work with my headset though. I am not sure if it is me or the TV.
Hard to find a better deal on a TV this large
Hard to find a better deal on a TV this large, and you're really not sacrificing much compared to a TV of similar size from a different company worth 3x the price, it is still going to be 4K regardless. The HDMI ports are plentiful and the power cable is long reaching. If an extra $3000 is worth it for you to make sure you get the "blackest of blackest" and "whitest of whitest" pixels then go for name brand, but to me this is 90% those TVs for 30% of the cost.
Also their customer service is great! I had an issue with their remote and they were able to solve it promptly.
Awesome 4K 65" TV for only $600! Definitely recommend
Ubsolutely great price for a 65” 4K TV. Sound and speakers are good, I have no complaints about them. I only use a 1080p Xbox One, so I cannot comment on how good the 4K on the TV is. But I would highly recommend this TV is someone is on a budget.
Good TV as long as the price stays low.
This was a great deal for $599, since the price shot up I am disappointed. I would buy another, but not when it is overpriced. The color is fine. My room is very bright, so absolute perfection on the picture is not necessary. I refuse to use Smart features, so the dumb TV is good in my book.
Would give 6 stars if I could!
I wish I could give this TV 6 stars. I bought a Sceptre TV 5 years ago, and it still works great. When I was ready to pull the trigger on a 65" LG, I thought, "Why not give Sceptre another chance?" I was a little hesitant buying Sceptre again, but I am so happy I did. I get 2 "whoa"s when people walk into my home. The first is when they see the TV, the second is when they see the brand name and I tell them what I paid.
... a quality screen with none of the "Smart TV" crap out on the market today
If you are looking for a quality screen with none of the "Smart TV" crap out on the market today, this is your TV. Sceptre has made computer monitors for several years and now released this line of televisions that meet the needs of consumers that just need a good screen.
The second one arrived on 15 Dec and it works perfect. No issues
Ordered on 23 Nov 2017 for $599 delivered. TV arrived on 28 Nov but the screen never showed anything other than a faint background light, no sound either. Called Sceptre tech support who told me to initiate a return/replacement quickly which I did. They sent me a FEDEX label next day and FEDEX picked it up on 30th. The second one arrived on 15 Dec and it works perfect. No issues.
People thinking of upgrading on the size of their TV should take into account of the width of the stand underneath! Mine was 36" wide and 25" tall. For this particular TV you need a minimum 60" width, better 66". Also, the table height should be lower ... say about 18 to 20". This TV uses two pair of legs for support. The distance between the front legs is 57.5" (outer edge to outer edge) while the distance between back legs is 47.5". There is no center support like many smaller TVs. And a typical such TV stand costs from 120 and up, more like $200. I ended up tinkering the TV stand to make it wider using shelving material from local hardware store.
A better option may be to hang it from the wall using the standard VESA but you will need to buy the right M5/M6 or whatever sized screws. The package did not have any such screws enclosed for VESA mounting. These screws are available at Home Depot or Lowes for may be $5 or so. The wall bracket can be had for around $40.
Overall I'm happy with the product for the price I paid.
I didn't have great expectations going in and got this TV on Black ...
I didn't have great expectations going in and got this TV on Black Friday for $599 on Amazon. After unpacking and getting the TV setup, first look was very ehh. But, I spent the next 3-4 hours on the set over 2 days tweaking the color settings down to the gain and offset values (using my past experience in doing so as a guide). Even after the first 2 hours, I was quite let down overall. Finally after realizing how to really get color change done, I now have it at a place I am VERY satisfied with. I have a full 7.1 home theater speaker setup and bought a 4k capable receiver from Yamaha to compliment the TV. I can now say, I am thoroughly satisfied with this upgrade as it cost me less than $1000 total that included a 65 inch 4k TV AND 4k receiver. SPEND the time to tweak colors...that is the key. Do it over and over until its perfect and you will have gotten the deal of a lifetime.
Not giving 5* as it arrived damaged. However I gave credit to Sceptre. Once I sent them a
pic of the damage they were quick in responding and sending a replacement TV.
The replacement works great. Its a beautiful TV. Don't bother using internal speaker or reading negative
reviews of the internal speaker.
Simply plug in a sound bar or sound system of your choice to enhance
an amazing picture. I plugged in a Yamaha 207 sound bar and that made a huge difference.
Good value for the cost, great picture
This tv was a big upgrade for me going from a 40 inch to a 65. If you don't wall mount it you need to have a space big enough for it to stand on, at least 60 inches wide and a foot deep. Setup is very easy, and after playing around with all of the picture settings you can get an amazing vibrant picture. The sound isn't great, so if you don't have your own separate sound system for entertainment you might want to invest in one for this tv if you get it.
No big problems or issues so far, but when the picture is black or very dark, there is some light bleeding from the back light that appears from the corners of the tv. Another review on here mentions this and shows pictures. While this does not bother me and is not visible unless the screen is blacked out, it may be a detractor for other shoppers.
Great TV but could of saved $50
Recieved this TV yesterday- so far so good. It has a great picture - extremely crisp. On had sound on for a while before I hooked up surround sound but seemed good. Everything working perfect. Only issue I had was when I ordered I ordered model U658CV-UMC but I recieved model U650CV-UMR. I contacted the seller and they responded quickly but just said same thing different models for different companies and I could return in if not pleased. Although I was glad to get a quick reply was somewhat perplexed of the reply. I noticed Walmart has the same model I received and it’s $50 less then what I paid plus it’s in stock would wouldn’t of had to wait. I was going to get that before I ordered the model I did but the U658 version is advertised as “2018 model”. Anyway, I did contact SCEPTRE directly asking about the model numbers and they did validate it’s basically the same TV the only difference being the way the legs mount. Wish I would of known before I purchased could of saved enough to buy the matching SCEPTRE sound bar. Other then paying $50 more then what I could of got it for I’m happy with it.
I cant say enough good things about this tv
I cant say enough good things about this tv. Picture is stunning to say the least especially when viewing true 1080 bluray disc or the new UHD discs are even more impressive. You have to get into the picture settings and play around with them all to really get this tuned in. Once you do you will notice greatly the difference from the default factory settings. Get a Roku stick to plug in the back and make a Smart TV for an added $50. Upgrade your Roku every few years to stay updated. Avoid TV's with smart features built in that tech goes obsolete and unsupported fast. Really light compared to its size. Low on power. Screen does not even feel warm after being on all day. Speaker sound is ok. My suggestion is use the money you saved on this TV for a nice 5.1 surround receiver setup with optical input and you will be happy that you did. Buy It!
Blown Away by quality/price
What a great TV! Can't beat the price, nor the picture quality. Upgraded from a 50 inch Vizo to this model. Was a little weary of the Sceptre brand, but have no complaints at all about this TV. The scheduled delivery from Amazon was great and I would most definitely buy another TV through Amazon. This TV isn't a smart TV, so it doesn't have any of the extra junk like Netflix/Hulu on it. That's perfectly fine for probably most people as almost everybody has some sort of a smart device to connect to the tv, whether it be a Roku/PS4/XBox or even a computer can connect easily via USB and stream all the content you would want. I'd recommend this TV to everybody.
I have owned a lot of televisions in my life and this one knocks them all out of the park, so far anyways. When it upgraded my hd dvd to 4k it was astounding. The clarity and colors were so good it felt like I was standing in the place myself. The price makes it an even better buy. If you want a fantastic tv at a realistic price, try this one. But, make sure you check with the company about shipping. I think mine was delivered by "three children with a wagon".
Best TV I Have Ever Purchased
I bought this TV about a month ago and it has surpassed my expectations and then some. I am so happy that at this price point I was able to get the same features that similar higher priced TVs have. This TV even has some better features than those expensive ones! I'm buying another Scpetre for my bedroom. Thanks Sceptre!

Unbelievable quality for the price.
Is this an OLED? NO WAY! However, if your looking for a really, really good image from your computer or Set Top Box, for an amazingly LOW price, then this is the DISPLAY for you. The picture quality far exceeded what I thought I would be getting at this price point. Played some video games with a Windows 10 machine and the response time was more than adequate for my purposes. 10 years ago if this TV existed it would have been selling for way north of $15,000. How times have changed.
Sceptre's U658-UMC HDTV is a quality product. We have owned several of their smaller HDTV sizes and this is the best yet. It was purchased to upgrade a family friend's home theater. The 4K picture quality is superb, it's easy to operate and it has enough inputs/outputs to handle most owners' needs.
That said, when we hooked up the existing older SONY Blu-ray player to test it, for a moment we thought maybe it wasn't a good choice. The picture quality was not even equal to the Full HD 50" Sceptre HDTV it replaced. However, that all changed when we connected a new 4K Blu-ray player using new cables. Everyone's reaction to it has been WOW!
Note: A new 4K blu-ray player, a new 4K AV receiver and new HDMI and optical digital cables were also purchased to complete the upgrade.
they have been great for the price we paid
Haven't had these TVs up for long yet, but I bought two for our training room at work. So far, they have been great for the price we paid. These are no frills tvs, so like most tvs the speakers are somewhat lackluster. The picture quality is very good and I have no complaints in that department. The TVs themselves look sleek and modern. If anything changes down the line, I will update, but as of now I am extremely happy with this item.
Exactly as expected, & correct model.
Been in service for 5 days, & is everything I expected. The chassis plate says the correct model number, same for the box. No question this is the TV I ordered. Couple of things I like, there is a "Picture" button on the remote that steps through several presets of brightness, contrast, etc., including a "User" setting, which I tamed down further than the "Mild" setting for watching at night waiting to go to sleep. There's also a sleep timer handy with the remote. During the day I leave it on "Vivid," which is very bright & clean, best picture we've ever seen. The "upscaling" of some older programs like Star Trek: TNG isn't as sharp as modern HD shows, I did't really expect it, but t's still very good resolution. So far, I couldn't be more pleased. I accidentally turned off the power to the THX receiver this morning & the TV speakers kicked in, the receiver still passing the satellite signal, and you don't want to hear the speakers by themselves. Like the kitchen TV I based my decision for this one on, the speakers are very tinny. In the kitchen I just hooked up a couple of spares from a kit I got to add a subwoofer to the wife's computer. They sound fine in the kitchen, If nothing else, you need at least a subwoofer in addition to this TV's speakers. I got exactly what I was expecting, and I couldn't be more pleased.
I previously owned a 50" Sceptre and the picture was so good but I have an eyesight problem and needed a larger screen and chose to stay with Sceptre. The customer service couldn't be better and all American's. No waiting or a hassle with them. I hadn't received the manual for the TV and they mailed it promptly to me. I saved a lot of money going with this brand since my old one has been a very good TV and I have confidence this one will be also.
Yes sound isn't good but who cares
Cant say enough about how much I have been enjoying this TV! Yes sound isn't good but who cares? Everyone stop whining about the sound quality and get some decent 5.1 speakers to go along with the great picture. I do not need "smart"; so loving that there is a 65" TV out there with a cost savings by not having that feature. Great TV!
Good value, Vivid color, Sharp picture
I upgraded from a (good) rear-projection TV, so any flat-screen would have been a step up, but I am really happy with this TV. It arrived extremely well boxed, with free "white-glove" scheduled delivery compliments of Amazon. The picture is clear, colors are vivid and it is a pleasure to watch.
decided for the cost I couldn't pass up this 4k from a company that has already given me some great smaller tv's
Have had two 30" Sceptre for almost 3 years, decided for the cost I couldn't pass up this 4k from a company that has already given me some great smaller tv's. Please note, there speakers absolutely BLOW on this unit but I don't really care. I wanted a great TV not surround sound system combo unit. Once I put the Yamaha AV and surround sound system to it, wonderful! IF you want a 4k 65" TV for under 1k, you can't go wrong. Packaging was awesome and even the installation crew said they had never seen a TV so well boxed and protected.
I purchased Yamaha RX-V379BL 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver with Bluetooth from Amazon because the old one couldn't pass through the ASUS Chromebox let alone Chromebox can't pass 5.1 surround sound through either. This unit has 4 HDMI inputs but only two are for high qaulity. So I run a Chromebox for web streaming tv and the two high def's are used by my blueray player and the Roku 4 (which can pass 4k and 5.1 surround)
I just got it, I have not completely figured it out, good picture
