Very happy with the monitor, I say monitor because they shipped ours with no TV tuner or coaxial cable hook up. Item description said it had it. They did send one out very fast for me to install. Even though I bought two TV's and told them so. And why do I have to be a repair man. Well, I returned them and have 2 more on the way with fingers crossed. Very bare bones product with very good Display. I am happy with our purchase as long as the tuner and coaxial connection are on these.
I thought It was becoming impossible to find a 40 inch tv for under $300. I went through 3 different tv's before I finally found this one. I first tried out the Sceptre X405BV- 40. I owned a 32 inch Sceptre previously so figured I give that brand a shot again. I quickly realized that tv had a 176 degree viewing angle which means, while watching from the side at my computer desk, all the red colors looked pink, and faces looked pale. I quickly returned it to try out another tv from a different site. Next one I bought had ghosting and banding issues making it unwatchable. It seemed hard to find a 1080 tv with a 178 viewing angle that had at least 3 HDMI ports for a decent price. After hours of research I stumbled across this tv not even thinking about 4K. It's advertised as having a 178 degree viewing angle so I was able to watch from my computer desk. Also comes with 4 HDMI ports, and has 10 watt speakers, most cheaper tv's have 5 to 8 watt, so it's a slightly better improvement. Plus the amount of component hookups are a major benefit. One review on here did claim that there were bad ghosting issues but I was willing to take a chance. So far I'm really enjoying this tv, haven't had a single issue so far. Color only looks only slightly faded from a side angle, but not enough to be worried about. One thing to consider is the reason this 4k tv is so cheap is because it doesn't have HDR, which I honestly don't even notice is missing. My only minor complaint is when it's hooked up to my computer the tv has about an inch on the top and bottom cut off, but it's pitch black and blends in enough were I didn't even notice there was screen missing at first. Bottom line, if you're looking for an 4k tv with HDR support, you might want to invest more. But if you want a budget 1080 tv this is the best one I could find and not much more expensive than the other 40 inch Sceptre on this site. To me, the 4k capabilities are just
I purchased this to replace a 27" 1080p LCD computer monitor. I was torn between this and a 34" ultrawide at twice this price. I do not regret it one bit. I watched a few 4k youtube vids and the picture is amazing. If using as a monitor, take 5 minutes to adjust the picture and lower the sharpness to 20 or below. Windows 10 settings automatically scaled everything up to 350%. Once I adjusted it back down to 100% then I was able to take advantage of all of the screen real estate. Windows automatically was setup to allow snapping into 4 sections, basically giving you four 1080p monitors all in one screen. Windows shows me as using 3840x2160 @ 64Hz. Just do your research to make sure your computer either has a displayport 1.2 or HDMI 2.0 if you want to get 60Hz. I also tested it at 30Hz with a laptop, and it worked just fine. It wasn't as "smooth" feeling when moving things around though. My sole purpose for this was to replace my computer monitor and for that purpose it is amazing. I have not tested it as a TV nor have I tested the sound.
Great set for the price. Has 4 HDMI ports which was important to me. Replaced a 32" set which I moved to another bedroom. Easy to connect with cable system and program remote for same. Picture is what I expected. Sound is o.k., since I don't need it for gaming. Arrived within the time frame provided and I picked up from store.
this tv is great. a very good buy for the money
If you're looking for a 4K that's just as good if not better this is the one for you. The best $230 I ever spent. Delivered to my front door
Right out of the box, this Sceptre 4K 40" Ultra HDTV blew my mind by the incredible 4K picture, great sound, and 4 HDMIs (2 with the new 2.0 HDMIs!) ports and all for the incredible low Walmart price of $249.99 before tax! .. I own a Sony PS4 and this 4k TV is a great gaming TV for the price for all you gamers out there! .. I can use this 4k TV as a computer monitor if I want to too for all you computer users! .. The remote control is very light weight and very functional (batteries are included!).. This 4k TV's menus are easy to navigate and use for those wanting to know this as well! .. Wal-Mart's Store Pick Up is fast and easy with the free shipping on this TV - 2 Business Days and it can be in your hands! .. I will let you all know too that I owned a VIZIO 32" HDTV previously that I paid $279.99 6 years ago at Wal-Mart .. What I can tell you all that it's nothing like this Sceptre 4K Ultra HDTV for the price! Would I get another Sceptre 4k Ultra HDTV? .. Yes! .. Would I recommend this 4k TV to a friend? .. Yes!
Using this as a monitor, in office setting, running at 30hz due to old graphics cards, but that's fine for spreadsheets, pdfs etc. Had to tweak backlight, contrast etc to make it look right, but after that is been great. Haven't used the speakers at all.
great tv great sound
I bought this 4K tv to use as a monitor and gaming TV - so far it has been excellent, and works well with my pc, Xbox one and my PS4.
I'm using this TV as a 4K display for my computer. Despite reviews to the contrary, I had no issues running this at 3840x2160 at 60Hz. You just need to set your display adapter to 60 Hz as it will likely default to 30. To do so in Windows 10: right click desktop, display settings, advanced display settings, then display adapter properties. Under the Monitor tab change the refresh rate to 60 Hertz. Since this is a TV and not a computer monitor, if using it as such you will have to experiment to find the best settings to get a picture to your liking. In my case having the TV set to "game mode" was the best starting place. I also found text to be much sharper after turning the "sharpness" setting all the way down to zero, and lowering the default brightness considerably. Overall as a TV this set is o.k. The built in digital tuner works fine with a regular TV antenna. (I don't use cable.) The picture can be stunning with 4K content (some YouTube and Netflix videos for example). However the sound from the built-in speakers is what I would consider very poor. The sound is rather hollow and thin. There are both typical bass / treble adjustments as well as a 5 position equalizer available in the setup menu. Some users might be able to find a setting to their liking, but in my opinion there's only so much you can do and you still won't hear much of an improvement. Not a problem for my application because I'm using much better external speakers. Overall for the price this set is a very good deal. (Especially if you get it on sale.) When used as a 4K computer monitor you can get a very clear picture after some fine tuning with the settings. In my case, I now have a HUGE 40" display for much less than the price of a 28-32" 4k computer monitor. About the only thing I'm giving up is ultra fast refresh rates. I don't do much gaming so that is not a big deal to me.
This is my second Sceptre television. I had purchased a 24" about 18 months ago and it worked flawlessly. This 40" UHD television was shipped to me with no damage. The picture is excellent although I have yet to try a 4k video. If you want to have good quality and save some money then go with Sceptre.
Picture is amazing my games on my Xbox One S have never looked better. Sound is pretty bad but I just turned the speakers off and use separate speakers.
Good deal, one dead pixel on arrival, but not a big enough deal to return, everything else is solid value for the price.
I was looking for a 4K set to equip and room with an Xbox One S for gaming and for 4K movies. I found this $200 Spectre just before Christmas and decided to take a chance on it, but I also picked up the two year support contract just in case (it was cheap). The other reviews were right in that it is perfect for Xbox gaming. I was surprised how good it looked versus my LGs and Vizio. The LG looks better, but the Vizio is really not as good for contrast and color versus this Spectre. The viewing angle of this display is wide and was unexpected for this price range. The inputs are great with four HDMIs and the remote is decent too. The sound is pretty much average for lower priced sets like this and does not compare to my LG, however for news and sitcoms, and simple gaming it is fine. If you want it loud, get a soundbar. I want it loud so I am looking for a soundbar. Even at the current price it is still a bargain in my opinion and I would buy it again in an instant.
I'm a previous Sceptre owner, after 10+ years, it was time to upgrade. This brand is the best! I couldn't be happier
I have not tried it thoroughly yet, but it looks good. I'm satisfied with the purchase
I am very happy with this TV. It was easy to hook up, and the picture is great. I was a little leery of the name unknown to me and the great price, but am glad I took the chance. I would definitely recommend this TV to. a friend.
Don't trust any of the reviews that say this thing has a bad "picture". I guarantee you that they aren't running any true 4k content to the tv. I bought this to go with my ps4 pro. The PS4 pro upconverts all of my games and they look fantastic on the tv. Battlefield 1, Ratchet and Clank, and Uncharted 4 look insane. Audio isin't great at first, but if you go into the EQ settings on the tv and max out the bass and treble, it doesn't sound half bad. This is an incredible deal at $200. I challenge you to find even a 40" 1080p at this price.
Good tv for the price
I love this tv. Was sceptible at first as I had not heard of this brand. Awesome picture, no problems with the sound as I think others may have stated. Mine is on top of my chest of drawers caticorner to the walls. Gave it only a 4 because I have not used all the features. Price was main reason for initial buy.
I recommend this tv my kids love to play their PS4.
Bought it online, came earlier than expected and was very well packaged. The product itself is very good as well.
Love it. Great size for the price. Easy pick up at store. Quick arrival.
Very satisfied with this sceptre Tv good quality picture
I have had this tv for about 3 weeks now, my reason for buying i needed a large monitor for video and web work. First thing step was to change all the sharpness and the other picture items to 50%. Then Turn off all advance picture features. Next connect the HDMI cable to the computer. In my case a SurfaceBook so i needed a MiniDisplay port adapter to HDMI. Now there are a lot of cheap adapters out there, and only a few can truly support 4k picture at 3840x2160 @60hz. i used "Startech MDP2HD4K60S" The other cheaper GE one that said 4k was not able to handle the 18gps required. Bottom Line. at this price point just do it. Its a great monitor if you connect it correctly. I also added a Roku stick so I can use it as a smart TV. This unit is awesome.
This television was just the right size for the bedroom and has features (4K) that support innovations in tv technology. I am completely satisfied with this product.
i don't have any 4K movies or TV content, it works fine as a regular 1080p TV. where it really shines is as a 4k/60 HZ computer monitor if it is fed a HDMI 2 output (no display port, but I use a display port to HDMI 2 dongle that can do 60 HZ ... the 1st gen HDMI 1 that can only go up to 4k/30 HZ)
nice tv especially for the price
Bought on cybor Monday for 199 and it was an great deal. The the quickest refresh rate but I like it and so would u if ur not picky
Awesome color. Easy to hook up. Just the right size. And the price at Christmas time fit my pocketbook
I got this 4k UHD set for under $200 with good ebates discount on Black Friday. It took a while to get picture looking right, but the advanced white balance controls made it possible to get color pretty much to my liking. There is still some clay face appearance, but not bad. No amount of equalizer adjustment improves the poor sound fidelity. It sounds like a 2" speaker in a shoe box. Be ready to output the audio to your own separate sound system. Bottom line: I'm happy with this purchase.
This TV definitely delivers in the display department but the sound is kind of meh, it kind of sounds like it's in a box but if you're like me and use headphones for gaming it doesnt really bother you
Amazing deal for 199.00. So for pretty great and much better than the 43" vizio 4k I purchased. The refresh rate is low and no integrated wifi or Ethernet but for 199.00 can't complain still a beautiful picture.
ON SALE FOR $199 + $26 FOR 4 YR WARRANTY. HD ANTENNA ONLY GUY, STREAM AMAZON PRIME MEMBER. NOT A BAD DEAL. REALLY! GREAT PICTURE, BUT WILL BE GETTING A SOUND BAR. SPEAKERS ARE CHEAP.
Big bang for the buck!
Everything work great.. Im really happy with my tv
Works Great! Looks Great!
We need a new flatscreen tv for our den. Walmart was offering this tv online at a great price, so we chose to buy it online. As for the tv: it is great. large screen very easy setup and plenty of ports for other multi-media devices.the actual purchase was simple (I used Paypal). Walmart provided great tracking service so we could keep track as it was being shipped. It arrived two days before it was scheduled to come. I would recommend this tv to everyone.
Sceptre tv is super UHD screen is very good is fine.
Quality and picture are great. Price was affordable.
I wanted 4k as an optional viewing selection at a good price. This tv has performed as expected. Even the sound is good which hasn't been the case in other tv's I have purchased. It has all the features I need. Great value and perfect for me.
Works like a charm - bought for a gaming computer rig with a GTX1070 and was worried about lag and refresh rate. Lag is basically non-existent (very minor and tolerable) and refresh at 4K is 60Hz , at this price point a steal !
Got this for bedroom colors good connected my combo TV to it to use my DVDs and it works great.
Great price for the size!
Picked up this tv on a sale for $200! Using it as a preview monitor for my clients and I love the resolution on it. Can't beat it for the price. I'm not technical with tvs, but this is our second sceptre and we love them! You might have to adjust the color profile settings to match what suits you, but that is a minor thing to me.
I recommend this tv to everyone
